American Sintered Technologies, a Fansteel subsidiary, is a full service manufacturer of ferrous and non-ferrous powdered metal components-gears cams, pawls, levers, ratchets, bearings, and more-for industries throughout North America. Among them: automotive, appliance, power tools, recreation, electrical and plumbing hardware, motors, lawn and garden tools and equipment.

The 46,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Emporium, PA houses a full complement of state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Included: a range of molding presses from 30 to 550 tons: sintering with hydrogen and nitrogen atmospheres, sizing and coining presses to 100 tons; oil impregnation facilities.

Materials include iron and carbon steel, iron-copper and copper steel, iron-nickel and nickel steel, copper infiltrated iron and steel, low alloy steel and sintered hardened steel, 300 & 400 stainless steel, brass and bronze.

One of AST's most vital capabilities is its ability to provide engineering assistance to its customers during the conversion of a casting, forging or machined part to powdered metal (P/M) technology. Although P/M parts frequently require no secondary operations, AST offers fully machined, heat-treated, steam treated, and plated components when needed.
