Wellman's unique computer controlled low pressure casting process allows walls of this near-net-shape missile fuel module to be cast 0.090". Requirements include mechanical properties of UTS 50 Kpsi, YS 40 Kpsi, 5% E. RMS 125 surface finish; and maximum weight restrictions.

Complex jet engine inlets like this one are ideal applications for low pressure pouring technology. Inlets have been cast in A357, C355, and A201 aluminum alloys.

Low Pressure Casting Center

Pushing casting technology to its limits to meet the needs of our customers has always been our philosophy at Wellman. The low pressure casting equipment shown at right was custom designed and built to our specifications and is being used to produce castings to today's most challenging design standards. By combining precision molding techniques with the unique pouring process and computer control, complex, thin-walled sand castings can be made with high precision without the sacrifice in strength encountered with other precision processes. We invite you to challenge us with your own critical casting requirements and let us show you how this advanced technology can make a difference. Take a look at our capabilities described below. Then give us a challenge.
